Small black magnetic cache that holds a log located in the Childress Cemetery. This is the very first grave to be placed in the cemetery. Also surrounding the first grave are the original black metal gates that use to be at the entrance of the cemetery. BYOP! Thanks for stopping by!
The Childress Cemetery was established in 1887. In the 1990's, a group of citizens began a restoration and organization of this cemetery with varied maps, charts and collection of information of its members.
This site is at the very first grave of this cemetery. Will Pankney, a cowboy for the Shoenail Ranch is buried here. He was buried here in an unmarked grave in December of 1887. You can read about his history on the monument placed at this site as well. The cemetery plot also holds the original black metal gates that use to stand at the entrance of the cemetery. Happy Geocaching!
