Geocache Description:

The "PoP-Series" of Caches are dedicated to Places that i've enjoyed coming to,
or been part of, "Past-or-Present".  This one is a little of both,
plus with some History of the Area that the cache resides in.

Planes
This cache is located in a rather unique area of Roseville.  This area was once home to Michigan’s first commercial airport, Packard Field, which opened at Gratiot Avenue and Frazho Road in 1919. It was renamed Gratiot Airport in 1929 and later Hartung Field. The Eastgate Shopping Center was constructed on the site in the 1950s and homes were built east of the Shopping Center.

Trains
The Detroit United Railway was a light-rail transit line that operated numerous streetcar and interurban lines in southeast Michigan. Although many of the lines were originally built by different companies, they were consolidated under the control of a Cleveland-based group of investors. The DUR trains ran on tracks alongside Gratiot Avenue (one of many lines) until the mid-1900's.

Automobiles
Gratiot Avenue has been the street-of-choice for MANY folks, young-and-old alike (including myself, which is what makes this a "Past-or-Present") for many many years.  Unlike other cities that Gratiot passes-through where they have special "Cruise Events" along the Avenue, the Roseville section of Gratiot Avenue seems to attract many cruisers any time of year (mostly Friday and Saturday Nights) and you may even find me & my Cache-Mobile out making the drive between 10 Mile and 14 Mile roads on any given Friday or Saturday Night.

Some of the many people who have enjoyed Gratiot Avenue Cruising over the years!

Enjoy yourself....And the hunt too! :)
