We are setting up this trail of caches giving you our version of a geocaching expedition. Along the way we will tell you some interesting information about the Lewis & Clark expedition. You will be going into the Hells Gate State Park where there is a Lewis & Clark Discovery Center where you can learn even more and visit a nice place here in the L/C Valley. You will not have to climb up or down into the rocks These are made to be easy finds.
The Expedition discovered 122 new animals and 178 new plants. Their main problem during the early weeks was the attacks from gnats and mosquitoes. In his journal Lewis complained that they "infest us in such a manner that we can scarcely exist... they are so numerous that we frequently get them in our throats as we breath".
