Geocache Description:

This cache is the latest addition to my Dartmouth Park series and commemorates the re-opening of the main entrance now called "The Avenue"

Thursday the 17th March was a 'red-letter day' in the life of Dartmouth Park when the Avenue was re-opened and the new Drinks Fountain unveiled. The weather was fine and the event attracted a large crowd who were delighted with the restoration work on the avenue and the replica drinks fountain, based on the one originally donated by the 5th Earl of Dartmouth. The Mayor, Cllr Pauline Hinton, Cllr Anne Shackleton, Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, and Betty Finney, Friends of Dartmouth Park Committee Member, performed the unveiling to a huge cheer from the crowd.
'Blind' Dave Heeley gave a speech about how he uses the park every day as part of his 'Top2Toe' training and he is delighted that he will, once again, be able to enter the park through the main entrance.
Another VIP at the unveiling was Mrs Pat Brown, who is the daughter of Dorothy Porter the little girl standing by the original fountain in a photograph used to produce an accurate replica. The photographs below show the original fountain with Dorothy and the new fountain with Pat. It was much appreciated that Pat could attend the unveiling, as the photograph of her mother was crucial to the building of this wonderful addition to the park.
Also pictured below is Friends of Dartmouth Park member, Doreen Lowe, testing out the quality of the water and reporting that 'it's b........... lovely'.
A big thank you to Mansell, the contractors for the 1st Phase, and John Satchwell, Project Manager for the Restoration, for arranging a wonderful event to celebrate the completion of the 1st Phase of the Restoration.

As you approach GZ from the main park entrance you will pass the memorial to all who died in the Great War of 1914 to 1918.

The cache consists of a plastic tube which contains only a log so you will be required to use your own pen or pencil to sign the log book.
I have set the difficulty rating at level 3 due to the high volume of muggle activity in the area so great stealth is required when searching for the cache.
