Geocache Description:

The CDC 6400 was a lower cost, lower performance version of the original 6600. It had unified instruction handling as opposed to the 6600's ability to execute multiple instructions in parallel.

The first CDC location in the Bay Area where I worked was here at 3145 Porter Drive. Compiler and OS development was done here. The location has changed a lot since March of 1969. Compare this picture from 3/1969 with the current one from 3/2011. The stone structure housing the signage is about all that looks familiar. The pines have sure gotten big though.

This completes my CDC cache series. I guess it is fitting that the first office site shall be last cache created. Hope you enjoy all 6 of them

The cache is a bison tube in a camoed container. Bring a pen. Be sure to put things back as you found them. Thanks.
Visiting hours are probably best on the weekends because office windows overlook the cache hide area. On the weekends, no one seems to be around. It is within 6 feet of the curb and is not an ivy hide. It is not on the sign and not in any sprinkler heads.

Congratulations to Little"D" for FTF
