Persistence Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Allen Cachers: We stopped by to check on our cache while in the park last night and all that was hanging in the tree was the lid. This is the second container that has gone missing here, and after sleeping on it last night, we have decided to archive this one.

Congrats and thanks to all who took the time to find this cache!

Geocache Description:

This cache is NOT located at the posted cache coordinates, but the posted coordinates will take you to a large trail map. Paper trail maps are also usually available here.

This cache is located in Lake Lansing Park North in Haslett, MI. The park currently opens one half hour before sunrise for pedestrian access and 8:00am for vehicle access. The park currently closes one half hour after sunset. Please respect the park hours.

This is a four-star mystery cache that anyone can find, no difficult stretching of your brain is required. All you need to do is spot this cache:

about 15' to 20' up in this tree:

on the BLUE trail. The cache is less than ten feet off of the trail. The only catch is that the blue trail loop is 3.8 miles long.

Our intent was to make this challenging, but not impossible. We hope that you find that to be the case.

The trail is unpaved and can be muddy at times, but the 4.5-star terrain rating is because some tree climbing is required. If you decide to climb the tree, you do so at your own risk. We recommend that you bring a buddy along for this cache if you choose to look for it and climb the tree.

In the winter, when the trails are signed x-country skiing only - no hiking, please respect that and do not seek the cache unless you are on x-country skis.

We got the original cache container in The Atomic Hen (GC2JY4X), so many thanks to Cagey Jadiesse for the cache container. Unfortunately, some one climbed the tree and stole the original cache! We finally found a similar replacement container, which is not quite as nice as the original, that we placed in the tree on 1/8/2012. We left a small mechanical pencil in the cache.

Good Luck!

Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Salimonyous on being First to Find!

Update 1/1/2012: There are signs posted that they plan to start charging admission for this park in 2012. We did not have to pay today, but please be advised that you may have to pay to enter this park now.

Voted one of the Lansing Area's Top Caches for 2011.
