This is a series of caches in the Pockwock Watershed area placed to combine geocaching with exercise in fresh air. Starting point is at Exit 3 Hwy 101, Mount Uniacke. Park using the south east (heading to Halifax) entrance ramp to 101. All caches are on or in a tree, at eye level, approx. 4 - 5 ft., just off the trail, no real bushwacking, and are winter friendly. This is a great area for walking, hiking, biking, snowshoeing, x-country skiing, etc.
Update 2014-04-13** Please note that this area is a PROTECTED WATERSHED and all cachers must follow geocaching guidelines set out by Halifax Regional Water Commission which can be found at (visit link)
Pockwock Lake is the water supply for Halifax, Bedford, Sackville, Timberlea, Fall River and Waverley. The watershed is protected by provincial designation and is primarily owned by the Crown. HRWC jointly manages the watershed with the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources. The watershed encompasses approximately 5661 hectares.
Great place to take dogs for exercising, but please scoop the poop. Gravel roads go for miles. Can grab the first few caches in 15 - 30 mins. or take 1.5 hrs. for the series, round trip. FTF in all caches except nano cache.
CONGRATS to Koalacanuck for the FTF!
