I have fond memories of growing up and of my parents. I wasn't a bad kid, really. But, whenever I wanted to go somewhere and not disclose the actual destination to my dad, I told him I was going shopping for shoes. If I had bought shoes every time I used that excuse, I would have more shoes than Imelda Marcos!
For those who haven't heard of Imelda Marcos, she was the wife of former Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos. She is often remembered for symbols of the extravagance of her husband's political reign such as her collection of 2700 pairs of shoes.
This letterbox is in honor of my father, Frank and those white lies I told him although I'm sure he knew better! I really miss him.
Don't forget to bring your personal letterboxing stamp, stamp pad, and logbook if you have them! The cache container contains a stamp and does not have an inkpad in it.
If you are not familiar with letterboxing, you need to know that the stamps are not trade items and stay with the cache.
You do not see many letterboxes on the geocaching.com site. Yet there are many letterboxes in the valley (atlasquest.com). When I ask the letterbox owners why they do not publish the letterbox on geocaching.com, they reply it is because they feel geocachers either do not understand letterboxes and take the stamp as swag or that they do not protect the letterbox from muggles. Please prove them wrong and keep this cache from being muggled. If it is muggled, I may have to make the cache premium.
You don't have to be a letterboxer to claim this as a find. HOWEVER, to claim F2F, you must bring your personal stamp and stamp the log.
As I was trying to decide where to place the cache, a hummingbird (my mother's favorite bird) landed nearby so I placed the cache here. This area is very peaceful for me and I enjoy hiking up here.
As always, be on the look out for the usual desert critters (although I haven't seen any). Bring plenty of water - especially in the summer. Ground maybe muddy after a rain. Please rehide cache as good or better than found.
After finding this cache, you can log your find and be done -OR- gather the necessary information from this cache (and GC2QH34 Take a hike) to complete Casey's Hill cache (GC2MGJN).
