Rocky Road Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

hamburking: New signage at the "trailhead" reads: "For your own safety, please stay off the rocks". Unfortunately, this means I can no longer have a cache out on the rocks. I'll be the first to admit, there's an element of danger going out there, especially in bad weather, night, or with inappropriate shoes. I thought this was a cool place to go, and I think lots of finders agreed. Thank you to everyone who made the surprisingly long trek out to GZ for the find. Cache has been removed. Please obey the signage and stay off the rocks.

Geocache Description:

A surprisingly long, tough hike in downtown Kingston.

Starting at Battery Park, you follow rough terrain to GZ.

Wear good hiking shoes or sneakers with grippy soles.

Although the cache looks deceptively close, give yourself an hour (60 minutes) to do this cache safely. Allow more time if you bring kids or aren't accustomed to rough terrain.

The trail is rocky. Please take your time and step carefully. Treacherous when wet...dry conditions are recommended.

The hard part of this cache is getting to GZ. The cache is adacent to the structure, facing the red bouy (away from the city), under a pile of smaller rocks. Since its been muggled twice, its necessary to hide the container a bit better.

I have listed the attribute of "not kid friendly", but kids over 10 years old should have no trouble, under adult supervision of course. Sneakers recommended, and take your time.

I have listed the attribute of "not winter friendly", but if there is no snow accumulation on the ground, and the rocks are dry, you should have no trouble with this cache.
