Geocache Description:

Located in the Botanical Gardens in Port-of-Spain. One of Trinidad's true gems!

The Botanical Gardens were established in 1818 by Governor Ralph Woodford. They are situated just north of the Queen's Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain. This is one of the oldest Botanic Gardens in continious existence in the world. The ltotal site occupies 61.8 acres (25 hectares). The landscaped park consists of well groomed gardens, with pathways and benches as well as large picnic huts. The garden contains a wide variety of some 700 species of tropical and sub-tropical trees, many of which are numbered and have a sign displaying their common name, botanical name and origin. The hundreds of trees represent all continents of the world and 13% of those trees are indigenous to Trinidad & Tobago.

The Gardens are open to the public every day of the year from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Restrooms are available inside the gardens. There is a herb garden and special green houses with specific tropical flowers. You also get a view of the histrical Presidents House from the various path ways in the garden. A section of the grounds houses a small cemetery known as "God's Acre," where the remains of several national figures are interred. The objectives of the Botanic Gardens are Conservation, Education, Research and Recreation.

You can enter the gardens from the main entrance on the Savannah round about road. You can either park your car in the car park at the national zoo which is located directly next to the botanical gardens, or if there is space some drivers park on the side of the road across from Presidents house, at the right side of the gardens. When parking on the savannah round about road make sure to park in a safe and designated area to avoid accidents or for your car to be towed by the police.

When looking for the cache, please observe the rules of the botanical gardens, do not destroy or damage any plants/trees. Do not litter, there are garbage bins around.
Use stealth at all times when searching for the cache, since the gardens are a popular attraction for both locals and visitors, so most likely other people will be around.

You are looking for a small black tube (micro/nano size) with a metal (keychain size) ring.
The cache contains only a small roll of paper, as the log book. Please sign name and date, no room for further remarks due to limited space. You can place you other comments on your log at the webpage.
