Beskrivning: Björkens släktnamn är Betula. Björken är det vanligaste lövträdet i Sverige. Björk är ett hårt och segt virke vilket gör att det ofta används till möbler, snickerier, svarvade produkter och golv. Björk är dock inte lämpligt för utomhusbruk då det lätt ruttnar om det utsätts för fukt.
Björken har alltid symboliserat kvinnan, det finns få träd som betyder så mycket för nationalromantiken som björken.
DK Birkens slægtsnavn er Betula. Birken er det mest almindelige løvtræ i Sverige. Birk har et hårdt og sejt ved, hvilket gør det velegnet til møbler, drejede produkter og gulve. Birk er dog ikke egnet til udendørs brug, da det let rådner hvis det udsættes for fugt.

The birch has always symbolized the woman; there are few trees that mean so much to the national romanticism as the birch.
