FIRE!!! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

K N C: Unfortunately, the fire house has moved and all of the people that gave permission for the cache have moved on. I tried to work something out with the current chief, but the awesome container that K and I donated was confiscated by one of the new fireman who is making a table out of it. So, in light of these developments I will be forced to archive this geocache. Thank you to all who visited and gave favorite points while it was active. RIP FIRE!

Geocache Description:

"There is nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer", to quote Colonel Dolittle, on America's response to Pearl Harbor by bombing Tokyo directly with an all volunteer force of pilots.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, 71 percent of firefighters in the United States are volunteers. The National Volunteer Fire Council represents the fire and emergency services on a national level, providing advocacy, information, resources, and programs to support volunteer first responders.

It was a Volunteer Fire Fighter who once kept K's house from burning to the ground. That volunteer, who was also a professional police officer, would later loose his life in the line of duty. This cache is dedicated in his memory ( I will never forget you, Sergeant "S").

Special thanks to members of the Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department & Chief Mitch Hazelbaker for allowing us to place this cache on their property.

Firefighter Dave, (we personally thank you for your work on the container) did an outstanding job on the container. Thank you so much for your help! We know it will be kept shiny and polished under your watch.

The cache's location is known to all who inhabit this property, so please don't feel uncomfortable about approaching its location.

We hope you will enjoy this hide, because at milestone hide #200 for us, we believe this is the best cache to date that K N C has put out.

This cache was placed with two (2) WAAS-activated Garmin Venture HC GPS receivers using the "average location" feature after taking 100 readings each. Satellite imagery confirmed this location from field observations. If you have found the coordinates to be inaccurate, please post a note so that they may be reviewed.

Please be sure to put the log book back into it’s waterproof bag, and then place the container back where one found it. We hope you enjoy this cache!
