I first hiked this area about 15 years ago
with a friend, who was a science teacher. We ran out of time and
could not explore further that day.
Recently, I went to the area and explored...I thought it was
further and more of a tough hike, but wrong on both ideas. Seeing
this location again, a cache was something that was desperately
needed.
Unfortunately, all I had with me was a small Lock ‘N Lock,
camo-painted and filled with some swag.

Numerous open mines near trail ! ***
The trailhead is almost diagonally across from Hilary Court and
Canistear Road in Cliffwood Lake.
There are some grass pull-offs to park on, with dirt parking areas
closer to the Canistear Cemetery.
Street parking on the lake community streets is not
suggested.
Check "all nearby caches" for more information.
The cache is located on NWCDC property which requires a hiking
permit.

coyote, mountain lion (possibly) and snakes (poisonous and
non-poisonous).
Please familiarize yourself with what to do
should you have an encounter.
Hunting is allowed, in season; please be safe and wear hunter
safety orange attire
or geocache on Sundays when hunting is not allowed.
