Part of an eight cache walking trail series around Craigie Hill and Craigie village that has been placed to coincide with the Ayrshire Meet on Saturday 25th June 2011.
Good stout waterproof footwear is recommended and please keep dogs on a lead as there will probably be sheep and cattle in some of the fields.
All finds logged before the day of the event will regrettably be deleted.
According to the OS map there appears to be an ancient fort on the high vantage point above this cache.
The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland RCAHMS stated after a visit in March 1985 that “Nothing now remains of the fort situated on Craigie Hill”.
The cache however has been placed well away from the specified fort area in accordance with the current placement rules.
