Parking at the bottom of Beechwood Road the cache is an easy grab about 70 meters away. Once found - enjoy a walk along the promenade to my other cache 'Who lives in a house like this?'
Otterspool Promenade is a riverside walk and accompanying area of parkland in the Aigburth and Grassendale districts of Liverpool, Merseyside, England. The promenade runs along the bank of the River Mersey from just north of Garston docks to Otterspool Park. A narrower footpath and cycleway continues along the riverbank to the city centre, ending at the Albert Dock. The promenade adjoins the former private parkland estates of Cressington Park, Fulwood Park and Grassendale Park. It is notable for the excellent views it gives of shipping in the Mersey and over the river to the Wirral.
Opened in 1950, it was built by landscaping a site that had been used for disposal of household waste and rubble from the Queensway Tunnel. In 2006-07 renovations of the promenade were undertaken, including the creation of a sizeable children's playground. The renovations were opened in 2007 with a plaque commemorating the City of Liverpool's 800th anniversary.
To the north of the promenade on the riverbank was the 1984 International Garden Festival site.
This is a magnetic key box containing a log book, pencil and a small dice. It can be seen from outside the fence (but not necessarily from the cache position) to save you grabbing about blindly.
Beware Muggles - as this is a very popular walking area. Also beware the mess left by dogs, who's owners have no sense of responsibility or consideration for anyone but themselves (rant over!)
