Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the published co-ordinates.

This is a series of 9 caches located along a section of the Trans Pennine Trail near Formby. TPT Music 1 to 8 are puzzles involving music of the 60's and 70's that need to be worked out before you go.

To identify the north co-ordinates you need to work out which three songs I am referring to. Each song has three clues, the first refers to the group/singer, second is the song and thirdly the number within the song. Once complete you will have three numbers - Variable A, B and C. Now carry out the calculation given within the section. This should result in a number between 000 and 999.

To identify the west co-ordinates you need to work out the name of the 3 album covers. Taking the first letter of each album use the chart below to identify its corresponding number. These three numbers should then substitute the published west co-ordinates.

North Co-ordinates = 53 33.((A-B)*C)

  • Originally formed as a backing group for Linda Ronstadt they decided to give themselves a name that was a tribute to The Byrds.
  • There have been a number of interpretations of what this song is about but it is generally accepted to be about American excesses and, in particular, the state of the LA music industry.
  • When asked to bring him his wine he is told that they haven’t had that spirit since a certain year. The last two digits of the year is Variable A.

  • The third child of a Greek-Cypriot father and a Swedish mother this singer/songwriter changed his name after a girlfriend said he had eyes like this animal. He changed his name again in 1977 to reflect his new belief.
  • There are numerous suggestions on how this song came about. A shop sign whilst on a bus, the name of a tailor or a comment on people being slaves to other people. Whichever it is, the song is about the drudgery of work.
  • The time you have to get up by in order not to be late is Variable B

  • This singer started off as a football apprentice for Brentford FC but lacked the enthusiasm to continue. After drifting around for a while he finally made his name with the Jeff Beck Group.
  • The song you’re looking for is a tribute to the wife of an ageing farmer during an horrendous winter.
  • The coldest winter for almost how many years is Variable C
