Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the published co-ordinates.

This is a series of 9 caches located along a section of the Trans Pennine Trail near Formby. TPT Music 1 to 8 are puzzles involving music of the 60's and 70's that need to be worked out before you go.

To identify the north co-ordinates you need to work out which three songs I am referring to. Each song has three clues, the first refers to the group/singer, second is the song and thirdly the number within the song. Once complete you will have three numbers - Variable A, B and C. Now carry out the calculation given within the section. This should result in a number between 000 and 999.

To identify the west co-ordinates you need to work out the name of the 3 album covers. Taking the first letter of each album use the chart below to identify its corresponding number. These three numbers should then substitute the published west co-ordinates.

North Co-ordinates = 53 32.((A*B)+C)

  • This group started off in silence but reluctantly changed their name to a book by Willard Manus. The book is about a misfit who joins a circus freak show.
  • This song was written by David Bowie in order to stop the band from splitting up.
  • The age of the person when he kicked it in the head is Variable A.

  • Reggie is better known by the two names of members of the Bluesology band he used to play with.
  • This song is about a prostitute in New York and someone who wants to take them back to Jamaica.
  • The height of the person is mentioned. Ignore the number of feet, just the number of inches is Variable B.

  • Others smile when the lead singer, prior to joining this band, released a one off single under the name of Larry Lurex
  • The title of this song is purported to be from something the drummer’s small son said. The song is about how TV has developed into being more popular than the wireless and how bad the wireless programmes had become. Make sure you reference the 1996 remix rather than the original.
  • The last two digits of the year you heard it for the first time, which was a long time ago, is Variable C
