The Conch Cache - a little bit of Key West in North Redington Beach! Our first hide, so let us know if the coords are right! FTF gets the gift card for a cold one!
The Conch Republic was born in 1982 when the U.S. border patrol put up a blockade on US1. Locals and tourists were frustrated and tried to have it removed. When normal avenues failed, the Keys seceded from the Union and became "The Conch Republic". This tongue-in-cheek approach worked, and the blockade was removed. We are left with "The Conchs" sense of humor and affinity to never take themselves too seriously. This cache salutes this spirit of humor and uniqueness!
