Geocache Description:

Aa Bailey Reserve was allocated to Mitcham Council in the 1940's after councillor Allen Bailey lobbied the council to buy it. The night it was approved, Cr Bailey had a heart attack and died. The land was previously a horse paddock for the Avoca Hotel.

This is a great place to have a picnic. You'll find picnic tables and BBQs - both with and without shelter. There's also a great playground for medium to large geokids, with Goodale reserve (separated only by a fence) providing a safe fenced playground for smaller geokids. Heaps and heaps of space to run in too!

The oval is primarily used primarily for Rugby and Cricket - there are cricket nets, a grandstand, scoreboard and a clubhouse. The grounds are also regularly used for other sports and exercise. The neighbours include a soccer pitch and a bowling green, both with clubhouses.

The reserve is well-used and may be deserted or packed when you visit. It's best to avoid days when the rugby club has a home game - it's absolutely impossible to park anywhere near the oval, and muggle problems get quite extreme.

If you cannot find an open gate, try around the corner to the North. Two small gates there are unlocked at all times.

The cache is a 400ml sistema initially containing two TBs for the 1st and 2nd finders and a collection of small swaps.
