This is our first cache, named after the lovable Round Rock Express mascot. The tale of Spike the bulldog and the Dell Diamond is a sweet and heartwarming story, and this cache is placed in his honor.
FTF gets to choose a new friend to bring home!

Spike's Story:
The familiar sound of the late evening freight train rumbling past Old Settler's Park on Highway 79 was interrupted by the awkward "thud" of a free fall.
The wayward passenger riding atop the 34th boxcar - a bulldog disguised as a railroad engineer - was dazed but uninjured that cool March evening.
He staggered to his feet, dusted himself off, and carefully made his way across Highway 79 toward the construction site of the new Round Rock Express ballpark.
It seemed a natural oasis for the weary wanderer. He felt comfortable among the silver steel and white limestone that was taking shape as Central Texas' newest "Field of Dreams."
He paused to rest against a mound of soft dirt that would
eventually be cleared for home plate.
The following morning, the construction crew arrived for work, and discovered their visitor. The crew gathered around him and noticed that the bulldog was knawing on a rail spike, a souvenir from his trip atop freight car #34 the night before.
There was initiated an immediate -- yet unspoken -- bond between the construction crew and their newest co-worker. The dog was adopted by the construction crew, and he was appointed as the official "guard dog" at the stadium construction site.
Eventually, the construction crew decided that the bulldog should forever remain at the stadium as the mascot of the Round Rock Express Baseball Club.
The ballpark is his home...
The community and fans are his family...
And, "Spike" is his name
