Geocache Description:


Northam Burrows Country Park lies at the western edge of the Taw Torridge Estuary lying within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the Burrows forms an integral part of the newly designated United Nations Biosphere Reserve.

The Northam Burrows is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It is about 253 hectares of grassy coastal plain with salt marsh, sand dunes and generally unimproved grasslands.

The Park is open to pedestrians at all times but there are restrictions on vehicles. The toilet facilities are available from 9.30 a.m. to 5.p.m Easter to the end of October .

Vehicle Access
There are three main entry points. Sandymere road via Northam Square , Pebbleridge Road via Westward Ho! and the Tip Road via Burrows Lane on the Appledore Road.

Vehicles are to leave the park at 10pm in Summer - BST and 6pm in Winter - GMT when the gates are locked against vehicular traffic but pedestrian gates are still open.

From May to September there is a toll charge (£3.00 all day last year) for the privilege of bringing a vehicle onto the common.

PLEASE NOTE there is livestock grazing on this common, dogs are welcome but under strict control and preferably on a lead.

A nice easy one to start, even a resting place for you. Great views across the Burrows from here and a view of a section of the Royal North Devon Golf Course.

Cache is a cammoflage bison container so please bring a pen with you.

Stealth may be required as this area is popular with muggle dog walkers and golfers especially on sunny days.
