Geocache Description:

Holton Heath station is part of the South Western Main Line between London Waterloo and Weymouth. Nice flat route to the cache. Please make sure you have a pen with you. Parking in car park at end of Station Road or drive through the Industrial Estate and park at the very end by the station just before the big boulders.

Holton Heath station situated between Poole and Wareham didn't open until the 3rd April 1917 and was originally for use by workers at the Naval cordite factories that were in operation here from 1914 to 1961. As of July 1924, this halt was opened to the General Public but has not been staffed since 1964. The original footbridge provides wonderful views up and down the straight track - you can almost see as far as Wareham!
