Geocache Description:

Welcome to Placid Bay, a community and bird sanctuary surrounding 3 beautiful lakes alongside Mattox Creek, a tributary of the Potomac River.

"The Big Bang" cache is designed to encourage visitors to share higher-quality, interesting and unique trade items. The cache contents are protected using a 4.2 gallon, durable, airtight container, which is sheltered from the rain and sun.

Consider leaving a personal note in the logbook about your geocaching travels.

Visitors, especially those in wheelchairs, are welcome to park between the wagon wheels.

This cache is near the road and does not require hiking, bushwacking, mosquito killing, muggle squirting, digging, swimming, hog wrestling, climbing, talking to the dead, ducking, first aid, or a mountain guide. A geologist may be of some assistance.

Advertisements, business cards, and religious items will be removed from the cache.

While in the area, consider visiting the Ingleside Vineyards, Westmoreland Berry Farm, Colonial Beach or the birthplaces of James Monroe and George Washington.

Believe it or not, "The Big Bang Theory" is not just a hit TV show featuring 4 nerds and a sexy girl.

The Big Bang was the event which led to the formation of the universe, according to the prevailing cosmological theory of the universe's early development. According to the Big Bang model, the universe was originally in an extremely hot and dense state that expanded rapidly. This expansion caused the universe to cool and resulted in the present diluted state that continues to expand today. Based on the best available measurements, the original state of the universe existed around 13.7 billion years ago.
