Geocache Description:

Beautiful Chewacla State Park was created by the Civilian Conservation Corporation or C.C.C. in the late 1930’s. It was an initiative started by Franklin Roosevelt under his New Deal program to combat the Great Depression. You can still see the influence of the C.C.C. in its many stone creations from the cabins to the dam.
There is a 26 acre lake with stream feeding and one stream flowing out. The lake has many varieties of fish typical for Alabama.
There are several trails throughout the 696 acres of park, one of which goes past the waterfall. Unique rock formations and a variety of trees, flowers, and wildlife can be found throughout the park. There is also a playground and a designated swimming are with a diving platform.

The park offers three different types of camping. Primitive, Water/Electricity, and Full Hook-up. Chewacla Park also has small and large cabins along the lakeside.
There are many pavilions within the park. They are an excellent way to have family reuions, birthday parties, or a graduation celebration.

The cache is located in Chewacla State Park in Auburn, Alabama. There is a $2.00 per person entrance fee during the week and $3.00 on weekends.. The park is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. During daylight savings time, the park is open later, but you need to verify the time the park closes. The cache is hidden in the woods just off of trails that run through the park. Parking is allowed ONLY in designated parking areas. No parking along the road is allowed. The cache is placed with permission from the Park and has the required permit. Geocaching is allowed by the State of Alabama Park system and you need to obey all of the park rules and regulations of the park. The accuracy of the GPS varied from 10 to 20 feet, depending upon the tree cover and cloud cover when the hides were placed.

If you enjoy time in the woods looking for caches that might take some time to find then this would be the place to come to. If you want P&Gs or quick numbers, you will not find it here. Most of the hides have trade items, others only have logs, so BYOP. Hope you enjoy this magnificent park and geocaching, as much as I have enjoyed the park and placing caches within this beautiful place demonstrating God’s handy work. What a beautiful and mysterious place God has created to place these hides. Happy Hunting. (God is watching and He is “Smiling”)

Congratulations to the Jazzmasters for FTF!!!
