Henry County Heritage Trust-McMillan Park Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

HCHT: The vast majority of geocachers are respectful and courteous of others. They write notes of thanks and appreciate learning the history of our area, which is the purpose of the HCHT series of caches. But, this particular cache has been in place for more than nine years and it's now been stolen. Enough is enough, so it is being archived. Sorry...

Geocache Description:

This cache is placed by Henry County Heritage Trust, a group that has dedicated itself to the preservation of history in Henry County. This is one of the many cache sites they have placed to educate the general public on the little known details of the history surrounding the area.

“Dedicated on September 13, 1941, in Memory of Thomas W. McMillan, Mount Pleasant City Manager, from 1904 - 1941”.

History: The Henry County Fair Association did not have a permanent home until 1897, when the association purchased this present site. In 1938, the City of Mount Pleasant purchased the fairgrounds and renamed the area McMillan Park in honor of Thomas W. McMillan.
