In the middle of the city we have almost some country. This temple is wonderful in that it is humble and not all glamorous like most temples in Bangkok. Wat Thepthidaram is simple. Doesn't have pavement everywhere. Monks sleep in traditional small quarters around the temple. The temple caters mainly to the local population who live around the City wall that is across from the entrance.
This is a third grade royal temple. It was called Wat Phraya Krai Suanluang due to it's location in district Suanluang Phraya Krai. Established in 1836 by King Rama 3 in honor of Somdet Phrachao Lukthoe Krommamuen Apsorn Sudathep who the King favoured for years of dedicated service.
The temple is simpler than most but is beautiful and shows the Chinese influence with the porcelain.
