In March of 2013 we had to say good-bye to our dear little friend and geocache companion. The cache is near the trailhead of one of her favourite trails along the Speed River.

Beagle's first geocache. Located near the Guelph Humane Society.
Our 10-year old beagle (affectionately nicknamed "Smeagle the Beagle") is our mascot and namesake. She loves any trip to the woods and sniffing everything there is to find. When I start following the needle off trail, she is always curious to see what I'm hunting for. Of course, when the cache container doesn't have anything to eat, her attention span shortens up considerably and she is off to sniff out mice or other "vermin".
Although we adopted her from the UofG, she has a few friends at the Humane Society who would also love a new family. The occasional beagle does pop up on the GHS adoption website. We've noticed the same one sometimes pops up two or three times .....
Parking is available at the GHS entrance, which is also the trailhead. There are also a number of caches further along the trail by the Speed River as it heads toward Niska Road.
