Geocache Description:

This is a 5-stage multi in the Burlingame Wildlife Management Area in Charlestown.

Most of this hike is along old dirt roads, but starting at Stage 1 you will follow a blazed loop trail that will take you to the edge of the Pawcatuck River, where there is an official, albeit primitive, paddler's campsite. This circuit will take you to the edge of Phantom Bog, a marshy area on either side of the river that separates Charlestown and Hopkinton. If you wanted to, you could do this cache by paddling to the campsite (see Reference Point) rather than starting from the published parking coordinates. Inspiration for this multi comes from a couple of well-done multi caches in West Greenwich and South Kingstown, and from a few other caches in this part of Burlingame (map).

In your search, you may come across a couple of letterboxes, as I did while placing this cache. Most of the walking is easy. For a couple of stages, some minor bushwhacking will be necessary and there are a couple of short ascents that are not too difficult if you choose your path well. The farthest stage from the trail is about 150 feet. The hike is about 4 miles round trip from the parking. Figure on at least two hours of hiking time. The rest is up to you!

FTF prize is an unactivated gold 2010 Little Rhody Fluke Geocoin.
