     Historisches Rastatt: Lost Railway

Rastatt hat mit der Bundesfestung einige historisch interessante Locations, leider bisher kaum für Geocaches genutzt.
Daher hier mal ein kleiner Anstoß:

Die Bahnlinie im Nordosten Rastatts führt heute nach einem Rechtsbogen in einer langen Linkskurve zum Bahnhof.

Als die Bahnlinie 1841 jedoch gebaut wurde ging sie kerzengerade in die Stadt hinein, um dann in einem Bogen um die Bundesfestung herum zu führen. Dazu musste sie einen Bach überqueren, was mit der Federbach-Brücke 1844 realisiert wurde.

Während der Revolutionskämpfe wurde der hölzerne Bahnhof in Brand geschossen, die beiden Lünetten 45 und 47 zum Schutz hatten nicht geholfen.

Als man 1895/96 den jetzigen Bahnhof baute, wurde die Trasse auf den heutigen Verlauf verlegt. Die neue 2-gleisige Federbach-Brücke ist nur wenige Meter nördlich.

Die Brücke ist vollständig erhalten, ebenso der Bahndamm, auch wenn die Natur bereits wieder vieles in Besitz genommen hat.

     Historic Rastatt: Lost Railway

Rastatt with the "Bundesfestung" (federation fortress) has some historic interessting locations, however not yet used for geocaches.
Just a little impulse:

The railway line northeast from Rastatt, leads today after a light bend to the right with a long left turn to the railway station.

However, building the railway in 1841, she leaded straight ahead into the city, to pass with a bend around the "Bundesfestung". For that she had to pass a creek, which has been realized with the Federbach-bridge in 1844.

During revolution fights, the wooden railway station had been shot into fire, the both lunettes 45 and 47 for defense didn't help.

For the present railway station, built in 1895/96, the alignment has been displaced to its current course. The new 2-rail Federbach-bridge is just a few meters in the north.

The bridge remained compeltly, as well as the railway embankment, even nature recaptures everything.
