The City of Lincoln was first settled by the Muskogee and Conchardee Indians. The names of many local sites serve to remind us of these first settlers. Blue Eye Creek begins near the Talladega/Calhoun County line and winds its way through Lincoln. Blue Eye's name comes from one of the best known local legends. It was supposedly named after a Conchardee chief who had one brown eye and one blue eye and because this was so rare the creek was named in his honor, or so the legend says.
The cache is located in the Blue Eye Creek Recreational Trail. The original cache was a waterproof matchholder covered in camo tape, however the lid became part of the hiding place. The new container is camo & is my first of this type. I found one like it recently. We will see how well it holds up. The cache contains only a log, so bring your own pen. Please try and place back as it was found. THANKS!! There is parking next to the old blue station. Picnic tables are available if you want to rest up and enjoy old Lincoln.
Congratulations to fozzybear507 on being FTF!!!!
