There is a railroad yard to the south east of the cache, where many trains come through here day and night......Making us The Railroaders

Nice area for CITO
Looking for a black pill bottle

This area was hand picked in 1870, by Judge R.W.P Muse and D. L. Lakin (who was the commissioner of the land department of Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad). Picked for the location along sand creek to bring cattle from Texas up the Chisholm trail, and loaded them onto the trains for shipment. With the completion of the railroad in July of 1871, Newton quickly became the shipping point of large amounts of cattle. January 1873, the railhead was moved west to Dodge City which ended this towns days of being a cow town. Leaving us our new nickname as the Railroaders.
