Vertigo Revisited Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

goodlife: I went out to repair this cache today and found the area in shambles. I have cleaned up this area and repaired this cache at least a dozen times over the years as I feel it has significant history. This once lovely area has turned into a trash dump and you could fill up a garbage truck with what human pigs have left here. It is very discouraging. Having said that, we have had a good run here and thank you to all the folks that enjoyed this hide and given it so many favorite points!

Geocache Description:

This is a small cache at a lovely spot with significant cultural history located next to the El Camino Real.

This location was used in the 1958 Alfred Hitchcock psychological thriller "Vertigo". The film featured Jimmy Stewart and Kim Novak and is frequently ranked among the greatest films ever made. There have been two previous geocaches at this location. The first in 2005, GCPBVF "Adobe Walls" and the second in 2006, GCW39W "Vertigo." This cache pays homage to those two hides.

This cache is accessible from Northbound 101 or from Westbound 156. You can only exit this location heading Northbound on US 101. There is plenty of safe parking at this spot and it is a good place to stretch your legs on a long trip. Close to this site to the south is a large wooden cross memorial. I wish I knew more about it but it is worth visiting. Although it would seem this location warrants a larger cache container... I am using a micro to hopefully keep it around for some time to come. You are looking for a 2 liter soda bottle preform in heavy camo. Please replace the cache as well or better than found. Enjoy!

Congrats to Geokashers and wanzong on your co- FTF!
