Where the Sidewalk Ends
"There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.
Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.
Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends. "
Shel Silverstein
I always liked this poem and author when I was a kid and thought it was appropriate. You'll see why when you visit the location. Parking shouldn't be a problem because there is a nice wide spot on the side of the road. You shouldn't need to park in the apartment parking lot since that is for residents only. Just be careful because Racine can be very busy. You're looking for a micro tube covered in camo duct tape. Watch out for burs! This one IS available in winter but I'm not sure that it's winter-friendly unless you like to dig in the snow.
Permission for cache placement was granted on 3/31/11 by Shireen, the property manager.
Congratulations to Moonerd and Moonerd's Mom to being the FTF's!
