The story is based around a simple plot concerning two bumbling peasants who accompany, without knowing their true identities, a princess and a general across enemy lines — all the while trying to steal their gold.

The Hidden Fortress is famous in its own right, but also boasts of being a direct influence on Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope — the 1977 film conceived, written, and directed by George Lucas — which is celebrating its 35^TH anniversary this year.
