Middlesbrough Football Club or simply The Boro, where formed in 1876.

They won the FA Amateur Cup in 1895 and again in 1898 and turned professional in 1889, although by 1892 had reverted back to their original amateur status. They returned to a professional team in 1899.

In 1902 they were promoted to the First Division and moved into a new home at the Ayresome Park Ground the following year where they were to remain till 1995.

In 1905 the club sanctioned the transfer of Alf Common for £1,000, a record at the time. Over the next few years, their form fluctuated greatly, rising to the top six in sixth in 1908 before dropping out of the top 10 two seasons later. Just before the WWI the club rose to their highest position in the league but the war was to intervened and football was suspended.

After the war and several poor seasons were relegated in Middlesbrough in 1924.

The decade before the WW2 saw the emergence of
famous players like Wilf Mannion and George Hardwick joined the club and the boosted the performance of the club but with the impending hostilities this was not to last, with their eventual relegation in 1954.

This was the start of a 20-year spell outside the top division, but it did see the emergence of one of the club's top goal scorers, Brian Clough, who scored 204 goals in 222 games, before he left for Sunderland.

They were relegated to the Third Division for the first time in their history in 1966.

Middlesbrough played at the famous Ayresome Park till 1995 when they moved to the Riverside Stadium since August 1995, third ground in their history.

The club came close to folding in 1986 after experiencing severe financial difficulties before the club was eventually saved by a consortium led by then board member and later chairman Steve Gibson.

Middlesbrough were controversially deducted three points for failing to fulfil a fixture against Blackburn Rovers during the 1996–97 Premier League season and were subsequently relegated although they were promoted the following season.
Middlesbrough won the League Cup in 2004, and reached the final of the 2006 UEFA Cup Final 2006 but were beaten by Spanish side Sevilla.

On 24 May 2009, Middlesbrough were relegated to the Championship League.

In 1997 Middleborough FC purchased Rockliffe Park and developed it into The Rockliffe Park training complex at a cost of £7 million.

The facility was officially opened on October 29th 1998 by British at the timer Tony Blair.

The Complex was further developed in 2008-2009 into what is seen today.

If you lucky you might see the Middlesbrough or even an International team train from the cache site.
