This geocache is located on the Penosha Trail in the Brighton State Recreation Area which offers miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and geocaching. A Recreation Passport is needed. Daily permits are $6.00 for Michigan residents, $8.00 for non-residents. Limited close free parking where the trail crosses Teahen Rd. Please keep in mind that all trails in the Brighton State Recreation Area pass through lands open to hunting.
The Penosha Trail runs through the southeast corner of the park and is five miles long. It is designated by blue circles. My GPS'r bounces in here and even though I made several visits on different days at diff. times and conditions I always got different readings. I averaged them all but be prepared for your GPS'r to bounce too. I want cachers to find my caches not go away disappointed so I've included a hint for stage 1 and will consider including more. This geocache was placed under the agreement between the DNR and the Michigan Geocaching Organization (MiGO) which allows MiGO members to place geocaches in state parks without a permit fee.
