Regina Geocachers and the Regina Public Library invites you and any
‘muggles’ you know that may be interested in the
activity to an event introducing the world of Geocaching.
Enjoy a presentation to introduce Geocaching to
attendees, and afterwards we'll go outside to try your hand at
using a GPS receiver to find some caches hidden specially for this
event with the help of experienced geocachers.
This event will be held in the RPL Film Theatre
of the Central Library Branch. It has seating for 109, so there's
lots of room for everyone. The event will be published in the
May/June @theLibrary Adult Programs schedule as well.
This event isn't just for
newbies!
As an existing geocacher, you can help peak the
interest of potential new cachers by sharing your enthusiasm and
stories with those new to the activity. Depending how many
participants attend, we would greatly appreaciate volunteers to
take people to find the temporary geocaches we have planned to hide
in Victoria park. Before the event, we will add the coordinates of
the temporary caches as waypoints to this event cache, so if you
just download this cache to your GPS, it should automatically get
the points. Stay tuned over the next few days for additional
details.
As a courtesy to the library to give them an idea of how many
are attending, plese preregister for the session by calling the
Regina Public Library at (306) 777-6120

One way to experience nature or explore your city is to
participate in the fun and fascinating new sport of Geocaching.
Geocaching (pronounced geo-cashing) is a
high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by
adventure seekers of all ages and abilities. It is an outdoor
family oriented activity combining hiking, exploring, and using a
hand-held Global Positioning System receiver (GPS) to locate the
treasure (geocaches).
Come for a free, fun filled afternoon session
with some experienced geocachers who will show what it's all about
and share their adventures. It will start with a presentation, and
afterwards you can join them outside to find some actual nearby
hidden treasures.
