There is a quiet hide-a-way at the south end of Bond Park where
Crabtree Creek empties into the lake and forms this secluded cove.
I have seen a group of wood ducks here on several occasions that
had meandered their way upstream from the main part of the lake. If
you are lucky enough to catch a glimpse of these brightly colored
waterfowl and want to get closer, please be stealthy when
approaching the water’s edge, since they are easily startled
and will take flight upon discovery. The trails and cache area can
get muddy after a heavy rainfall, so take along appropriate
footwear in the event of a recent storm. And since this is a micro,
remember to bring a writing utensil.
NOTE: Please be aware that Bond Park and surrounding trails are
closed just after sunset, so plan your trip accordingly.
