Geocache Description:


Background

How fine-tuned is your botanical ‘fernacular’? How well do you know your native ferns? Can you differentiate Cyathea smithii from Dicksonia squarrosa?

Situated in Tunnel Gully, we were surprised to find there were no caches on the 30 minute loop walk, Tane’s Track – the longest walk that stays inside the Tunnel Gully area – so we have placed the final of this mystery cache on it. It journeys through a myriad of different ferns, some of them, hopefully, you may have learned by the time you get around to finding this.

If you are not fluent in the language of Botany, you can find a wealth of information at the library, or simply through Google – specifically, Wikispecies may be of help!

The cache itself is a 1.2L Sistema container hidden well, which contained when placed – a logbook, glass pebbles, a bouncy ball, a geocaching notice, and the ‘The Centule TB’. There is no pen / pencil so please BYO.
Please be aware the gates are closed after dusk - so time your trip to suit.
