This is a cache along the Northwest Branch trail and located next to a favorite fishing spot of Mr Kite and grandson Kite. Cache is very close to the path (use maximum stealth here) about 6 feet up the hill and is a 4”x 6” lock-n-lock. Cache contains various trinkets, log and a pencil.
As you enter the enter the path at the dead end of Lockridge Drive your GPS should read about .13 miles. Go down the hill to a bridge and cross the bridge so you will be basically going West. As you walk along the path, the creek is to your right and the cache is hidden on the left. Enjoy the scenery. Bring your fishing pole along and dig some worms and try your luck after making the find.
Beware of hiking muggles as they tend to come up quietly. UNLESS, they are walking dogs, off leash (which is against Montgomery County Code) and the dogs will sometimes run up, barking and snarling, to challenge strangers. The dog owners for the most part think nothing of this. (You know, the old “He’s really friendly!” bit.) I always carry a product called HALT with me. This is the same thing that the mail carriers use and is very effective. I got it at a bicycle shop.
Congrats to TrailBuddha1 and B-Sharps on a co-first time find!
