The McBride Trail in Rancho Palos Verdes is a mile-long trail offerering spectacular views of the Palos Verdes coastline and Catalina Island. The public trail was dedicated in 1989 for local resident Clifton R. McBride who spent 13 years improving and maintaining it. The trail is slightly overgrown and steep at this end, if you keep hiking around the corner, you will be rewarded with great views. The walk is easy/moderate - there are some rocky areas and minor inclines along the way. At the sign for the Upper Filiorum Reserve, the trail bears uphill and along the rear of the houses.
Some of you may recall Snowland's recently archived GCN9W9 Hillside Trailhead geocache nearby. This great trail needed another cache to mark the trailhead. Container is a mini-decon given to us by Albackore. To find the cache: Go to the opening between the bushes across from the green irrigation control box. It's in the bush on the right, hanging 2' high on a thicker branch, within ~5' of the trail. There's additional information in the Hints.
If you do continue along the trail past the cache, as always be aware of natural hazards and bring water.
