Watermelon Days are held in Sanborn each year in mid - August. Over 10,000 people attended the first Watermelon Days in 1928
Monday evening a Watermelon Queen contest is held, firemen's water fights and kiddie parade along with the carnival rides. Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. is the grand parade with free watermelon served after the parade. Food stands and carnival rides are available.
