Geocache Description:

Part of the Redwood County Small Cities Challenge.

Sanborn, 2010 population 339

SANBORN, a city in sections 25, 26, 35, and 36 of Charleston, incorporated as a village on November 11, 1891, was named in honor of Sherburn Sanborn, who during many years was an officer of this railway company. The village was platted in June 1881 by John Yaeger on both sides of the Winona and St. Peter Railroad tracks, which crossed his farmland; he filed the plat on October 10 as Sanborn for the Chicago and North Western superintendent. Thomas Poole served as first postmaster, beginning in May 1880. Upham, Warren (1969 reprint) Minnesota Geographic Names,. St Paul, Minnesota: Minnesota Historical Society
