Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a series of caches highlighting bridges that span the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. NOTE: 1/19/14- Changed container and moved to much higher ground. Adjusted ratings due to much easier to find and get to.

PLEASE NOTE 6/10/19: THIS CACHE HAS A NASTY PROBLEM OF GOING MISSING. I DON'T KNOW IF THE PEOPLE ACROSS THE STREET REMOVE OR NOT. JUST IN CASE HERE IS A HINT...IT IS ON THE DOWN RIVER SIDE, THE SAME SIDE AS THE COMMUNITY CENTER. IT IS NOT ATTACHE TO THE BRIDGE SO THAT SHOULD NARROW IT DOWN TO THE OBVIOUS. In 2004 the Bicentenial Raft was launched just below this bridge. This was an authentic timber raft measuring 28 ft x 110 ft. It cast off for a 26 mile journey through the County to below Shawville. The raft included a cabin and was built by over 100 volunteers. This spot is also the home of the Curwensville Community Center, the Curwensville Golden Tide football and softball fields, and last but not least, the Curwensville sewage plant! It is also a popular area for fisherman and to launch canoes. With all this activity beware of mugglers. When the US Corps of Engineers releases more water than normal for flood control you may not be able to access this cache (the water level does not rise rapidly so risk in minimal). Just plan ahead before attempting this cache.
