We drive by places like this - without a thought. Sometimes not even seeing what is there.

This is near a headstone for Gaylord Edger Cruse, April 7 - 21, 1910, right outside the fence line, by the road. I ponder . . . who was his family, what was their life like . . . did he have siblings . . .what brought them to this remote area (in 1910) . . . etc.
If you look over the fence, and straight out into the field, there used to be remnants of a homestead, lilac bushes, etc. It has all been cleared away.
I was asked -'Why do I want to place a cache here?' My reply - 'To remember, to think about (and appreciate) what we take for granted, to honor this family and the part they had in 'taming' this new frontier. To encourage others to do the same.'
I hope that this cache means more than just another 'smiley' in this game that has encouraged our family to notice what is around us, and to get outside and to play more together.
