Geocache Description:

In 1783 the New King of Siam Rama the first, felt that the new capital needed a moat and a canal to define the outskirts. Khlong Pop Krung was dug with the labour of 10,000 Cambodians. How the city has grown.

From the ancient to the old is what this bridge would be. Rattanakosin island with all it's splendors behind and a residential area that got overwhelmed by the modern development of the 1930's in front. Tourists seem to stop at this bridge and feel that the other side has nothing of much to offer. If they only knew.

Starting with this location on can walk along the khlong (canal) and see a world that most westerners miss.

There is a very nice temple just up the road. Little furter up the road and to the left is a temple with a HUGE buddha image that stands 4 stories tall in the middle of the city.
