Gabriele D'Annunzo abitò a Settignano nella villa “La Capponcina” dal 1898 al 1908 seguendo Eleonora Duse che già a Settignano aveva acquistato nel 1897 una villa (La Porziuncola) nell'attuale Via della Capponcina al n.75. D'Annunzio acquistò la villa dai Conti Capponi (da qui il nome) al n.32, stabilendocisi con 15 domestici, 10 cavalli, 38 levrieri e più di 200 piccioni e conducendo una vita smodatamente lussuosa, tant'è vero che nel 1908 dovette “fuggire” (in esilio dirà lui) a Parigi inseguito dai creditori. D'Annunzio considerava la villa come il luogo ideale per esprimere il suo genio, la 'domus aurea', l'abitazione dell'esteta e del superuomo esaltati nei suoi romanzi. La villa conobbe il periodo più fecondo del poeta che scrisse le pagine più importanti della sua attività letteraria e soprattutto visse le più leggendarie vicende erotico-amorose con Eleonora Duse.
La cache è nascosta vicino alla villa La Capponcina in punto molto stretto della strada, vi consiglio da lasciare l'auto prima della villa. Da notare che al n.68 c'è la villa di Leonardo Buonarroti, il padre di Michelangelo che era proprietario di una cava lì vicino, qui abitò Michelangelo Buonarroti da bambino.
The Poet Gabriele D'Annunzio lived in Settignano in the villa “La Capponcina” from 1898 until 1908 following his lover, the actress Eleonora Duse who had already bought in Settignano a villa (La Porziuncola) in the actual Via della Capponcina at n. 75. D'Annunzio buoght the villa from the Earl Capponi (from whom the name) at n.32, living there with 15 servants, 10 horses, 38 greyhounds and more than 200 pigeons and living an excessive and expensive life, so much so that in 1908 had to “escape” (exile, he said) to Paris followed by his creditors. D'Annunzio considered the villa like the ideal place to express his genius, the “domus aurea”, the aesthete's home, the superman's way of life glorifyed in his novels. The villa knew the most fruitful period of the poet who wrote here the most important of his literature pages, and above all lived here the most legendary erotic affairs with Eleonora Duse.
The cache is hidden near the villa La Capponcina, in a very very tight point of the street, I advise you to left the car before the villa. To remark that at n.68 there is the villa of Leonardo Buonarroti, the Michelangelo's father who was the owner of a quarry not far, here lived Michelangelo in his childhood.
