Geocache Description:

Small container with logbook, pencil, small items and It's a Long Way to Al-conbury TB.

This cache is placed in a spot where we once spent a long time looking for a cache, only to realise, once we had given up and returned home, that we had worked out the cache clue wrong and were at the wrong coordinates!

The Great Central Railway once ran along this embankment on its way from London to Sheffield. The only section still operating runs between Leiceister and Loughborough. The line was born from the ambition of Edward Watkin, and was opened in 1899. However, closures started less than 60 years later in 1966. Soon after, the Great Central Railway became a tourist attraction, and today a large collection of steam locomotives run on the remaining stretch of the line.
