Geocache Description:

Cache is located in Ponteland Park. Cache contains log only, please bring own writing implement

The park lies in the centre of the village, extending to 18 acres on the banks of the River Pont. It consists of woodland, copse, mixed hedgerow and open grassland with a small oxbow lake. Species found in the park include otter, heron, grey wagtail, dipper and red squirrel. The Friends of Ponteland Park formed in 2005 with the aim of improving the park for the community and for wildlife. Volunteers of all ages have taken part in bulb planting, the creation of a Young People's Wood and clearing of invasive weeds. In 2008 the Friends were awarded a Breathing Places grant to make a flower-rich summer meadow and improve a woodland walk.
