Number 7 in a series of notable trees spanning the greater St. Louis bi-state region, celebrating the United Nations International Year of Forests in 2011.

To help identify this tree:

  • Located in Lafayette Park, St. Louis City
  • Species is one of the largest native trees of the eastern U.S
  • Flowers are large, brilliant and often numerous
  • This tree species is a major honey plant in the Eastern U.S
